Knee/Shin pain. What is it?
Ok so I'm a very athletic person. I'm always playing basketball or football, or doing some kind of physical activity. Lately I've been having pain in my shin/knee area. It's right below the knee cap. Whenever I run or jump, basically when you make movements that require bending of the knee causing pressure in the knee area it will hurt. It is not my knee however but like the top of my shin. Is this just an over use injury. Or is it shin splits or something else? Should I ice them? And will it get better with rest? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Based on the area of pain, it looks like patellar tendonitis; it's an overuse injury. Ice it if it hurts, for a maximum of 20 minutes every 2-3 hours. It should get better with rest and take some anti inflammatories as well.
