Looking for the Best and Most Comfortable Hockey Helmet?
We just purchased the Bauer 9500 for my son, he HATES it! Hurts his temples...yes it has been fitted for his head but the helmet hurts his temples and causes him to have migraines. He had a Mission Intake that worked great but he grew out of it, not sure if it is a good helmet anymore, seems like there have been a lot of upgrades since we purchased that helmet in 2006.
I heard the Reebok helmet was recalled.
ok half the people answering this question have no idea what they're talking about. easton just started making helmets within the past year or so....not sure how talbot rox has been wearing them since their childhood haha. anyway easton is supposedly fairly comfortable (i've never used them). you could also maybe try a lower end bauer model like the 4500 or 5500. i've been using the 4500 for the past several years and i've had no problems (not sure if it's enough padding for your liking though). reebok's okay but i've heard a lot of people get concussions from them. ccm's decent (a bit narrow in my opinion though). mission makes pretty good helmets (as you already know). cascade is a company fairly new to hockey. their helmets offer a lot of protection but they're pretty pricey. pretty much all helmets can be adjusted...you can make them smaller or larger. if the 9500's hurting his temples i doubt adjusting the helmet will make much of an improvement though.
