When is delay of game called in ice hockey?
I'm specifically refering to when a player shoots the puck over the glass, usually when trying to clear their zone. Most sites I read said delay of game is called when they shoot it over the glass deliberatly but isn't it not deliberate if the player is trying to clear?
If a defensive player shoots the puck over the glass in the defensive end. Doesn't apply when being shot into the benches. Also some times but very rarely it is called when a goaltender shots a puck and covers it up when there is no opposing player close to him. But usually the goalie will get a warning first then if he does it again he will get a delay of game penalty.
